About SWAYAM
SWAYAM stands for Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds . It is an online learning platform launched by the Government of India to provide quality education and digital learning opportunities to students, faculty members, and lifelong learners across the country.
SWAYAM was launched by the Government of India in 2017 and developed by AICTE with the support of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Microsoft.
SWAYAM offers more than 13,230 courses in various domains including Design, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities & Arts, Management, and more.
More than 4.6 crore learners have enrolled in SWAYAM courses and over 31.1 lakh certifications have been issued successfully.
SWAYAM courses include video lectures, downloadable study materials, self-assessment tests, and online discussion forums designed by top educators and institutions.
Most SWAYAM courses are free of cost. Learners can also obtain certificates by appearing for proctored examinations conducted at designated centers.
Aim And Objectives
SWAYAM is a programme initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy namely Access, Equity, and Quality . The objective of SWAYAM is to provide the best teaching-learning resources to all learners, including the most disadvantaged sections of society. It aims to bridge the digital divide and bring students into the mainstream knowledge economy through quality online education.
