Department
Pharmaceutical Chemistry is an interdisciplinary science that deals with the designing, synthesis, identification, development, and analysis of New Chemical Entities (NCEs). This study helps in understanding the mechanism of drug action at the molecular level.
Modern approaches such as Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR), Computer-Aided Drug Design, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), UV Spectroscopy, and Infrared Spectroscopy are used to study the chemical nature and behavior of drugs.
Students are well prepared with the application of modern information and scientific technologies in drug development, safety, and efficacy studies.
The department is equipped with modern laboratories and instruments covering various chemical aspects of drugs including physical, analytical, organic, inorganic, biochemical, and medicinal chemistry. Well-qualified and experienced faculty members are the major strength of the department.
Advanced learning and practical exposure in pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry.
Design and development of new chemical entities and medicinal compounds.
Study of drug action, structure activity relationships, and molecular interactions.
Training in HPLC, GC, UV spectroscopy, and IR spectroscopy techniques.
Research-oriented learning in drug synthesis, evaluation, and analysis.
Well-equipped laboratories are available for undergraduate students to perform practicals related to organic chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, medicinal chemistry, and biochemistry.
Advanced research laboratories for postgraduate and research students support synthesis, analytical studies, and innovative pharmaceutical research projects.
